Software license data is maintained on PageMate Server systems
in a file named LICENSE.DAT that resides in the PageMate data directory.
Most network and CDROM distributions of PageMate software load a
dummy (non-functional) LICENSE.DAT file into the data directory.
To register a temporary (evaluation) or permanent software license,
you will need to replace this file with a new LICENSE.DAT.
Most software license keys are distributed in the form of ASCII
(printable, human-readable) certificates. When data from a license
certificate is entered via PageMate Administrator GUI, PageMate
will write a new LICENSE.DAT file in the PageMate data directory.
An alternative form for license distribution is e-mail distribution
of LICENSE.DAT binary files. If you have received a LICENSE.DAT
file via e-mail, you should copy it to your PageMate data directory
to supersede any file of the same name that you find in the directory.
To use a software license certificate to supersede or replace an
existing license, you should first delete any LICENSE.DAT file that
you find in your PageMate data directory. Then run PageMate Administrator
on your PageMate Server system. To run PageMate Administrator on
Windows NT, click on the PageMate Administrator applet in the PageMate
program group. To run PageMate Administrator on UNIX, type pageadmn
as a shell command. To run PageMate Administrator on OpenVMS, type
PAGE/ADMIN as a DCL
command.
A video panel will be displayed to tell you that you are running
an unlicensed copy of the software. Click on the License option
to obtain a display of the license key data entry panel, then enter
data in each field exactly as it appears on your software license
certificate. Be careful to exactly match the case, punctuation and
spacing of character data that appears in the Registered User name
field. If your license certificate lists any Additional Connectors
marked with a solid (filled) circle, select (click on) the corresponding
connector options in the display. Enter the checksum information
as four sets of eight hexadecimal characters, separated by dashes.
When all fields have been filled in, click on OK.
If the data you have entered match the requirements of your license,
PageMate will create a new LICENSE.DAT file in your PageMate data
directory and display a message to let you know that license registration
was successful. If any of the information entered differs from that
shown on your certificate, the checksum will not match and a new
license file will not be generated. If this should occur, check
the information displayed on your screen in comparison to that provided
on your license certificate. If you cannot find any discrepancies
or have a continuing problem with data entry, contact Systemetrics
(telephone 1-617-868-8308 or e-mail support@system.com) for technical
support assistance.
