System was founded as a Public Benefit Corporation with a simple but ambitious goal: to relate everything to help the world see and solve anything as a system.

Achieving that vision means more than building powerful technology. It requires building institutions, partnerships, and communities that ensure those capabilities expand access to knowledge and get used to advance the public good.

That’s why we’re excited to welcome Tariq Khokhar to System as VP Public Benefit.

In this role, Tariq will lead System’s public benefit strategy: helping shape how our technology and products support open knowledge, scientific discovery, and collaboration across the research, public, and social sectors. He’ll work closely with our product, engineering, and communications teams to ensure that System’s work contributes meaningfully to the broader systems of science, policy, and public knowledge.

Tariq has spent his career building technology systems and partnerships that serve the public interest. He previously helped lead the World Bank’s open data efforts as its Global Data Editor and first Data Scientist, served as Chief Data Scientist at the Rockefeller Foundation, and most recently led AI and data strategy for science and health at the Wellcome Trust.

Across these roles, he has worked in more than fifty countries, helping build partnerships that enable governments, scientists, companies, and nonprofits to use data and technology to address complex global challenges.
